Former Oregon Ducks Running Back Byron Marshall will play a bigger role for the Philadelphia Eagles this week vs the Dallas Cowboys.

It was a great start for the Philadelphia Eagles this season behind Rookie Quarterback Carson Wentz, but a losing streak renders the season finale meaningless for the most part. The Dallas Cowboys have already locked up the top seed in the NFC and are playing Quarterback Shuffle to make some late season headlines entering the final week of the regular season.

Injuries have hit the Philadelphia Eagles backfield and with Ryan Matthews out on Sunday, Byron Marshall will be the featured back-up to Starter Darren Sproles according to CSNPhilly.com. The Oregon Alum was added from the Practice Squad to the Active Roster back on December 13th and will now have an extended look for the first time this season.

"Right now the plan is Darren, but for sure to see Byron a little more on first and second down probably. And even some third-down situationsHead Coach Doug Pederson on Byron Marshall playing against Dallas. (via CSNPhilly)"

The evaluation process heading into 2017 has started, and a solid showing by Marshall could propel him to the 40-man roster starting next year. He has had some success in the NFL but his final season with the Ducks ended with an injury. Marshall is a unique athlete who can both run and catch. He spent his Sophomore year with the Oregon Ducks rushing for over 1000 yards and in his Junior Year caught the ball for over 1000 yards.
