Oakland Raiders Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave Not Returning
In a move that is puzzling to some, former Oregon Duck and Oakland Offensive Coordinator will not return in 2017.
Ian Rappaport was first to report the news on Tuesday. Bill Musgrave helped lead the Oakland Raiders to a Playoff spot in 2016. The team lost to the Houston Texans last weekend. Musgrave is run his contract term of two seasons and Oakland has elected to not re-up and let him go. The timing is interesting in the College Football world as well.
The Oregon Football team is still in the process of filling out Assistant Coaches and some on Twitter are Wish Listing the return of Musgrave to his ‘Home at Oregon’. I’m not sure it is in the cards. With his success at the next level, the former Oregon Quarterback will likely continue his career in the National Football League. He is already loosely connected to the opening in Denver. Musgrave held one job in the College ranks in his career as Offensive Coordinator at Virginia in 2001 according to Wikipedia.
Musgrave had the sixth best Offense in the National Football League in 2016. The reasoning, at least to me, makes no sense as to why they would not want to retain him. I’m also not sure that is a call that Willie Taggart would make. Time will tell so stay tuned. It appears that Mario Cristobal is in line for the Offensive Coordinator position.

The Oakland Raiders finished 2016 without the services of Quarterback Derek Carr who was injured the final week of the season.
