Ducks’ Ranked High To Start 2017 Season

Oregon Track and Field begins the Indoor season this wek and both Men’s and Women’s teams are ranked high to begin the 2017 season.

Following an Olympic season in 2016 with more than a handful of current and former Oregon Ducks competing in the US Track and Field Championships for a chance to head to the Summer Olympics, a new year resets the sport.

The Oregon Women’s Track and Field team will be led by now veterans Deajah Stevens and Arianna Washington. Raevyn Rogers also returns in the 800 Meters. The Ducks will begin the season in the top spot of the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Preseason poll. Oregon is followed by Arkansas, Georgia, USC and Texas.

The Oregon Men’s Track and Field team is also ranked in the Top 5 coming in at number two behind Florida. Marcus Chambers leads the Oregon Men’s team with the departure of Devon Allen who went Professional in the sport, ending his College eligibility. Ben Thiel and Cole Walsh return and in the Decathalon look for Mitch Modin and Joe Delgado to improve on their respective seasons in 2016.

The 2017 season for Oregon Track and Field begins on Saturday, January 14th at the UW Indoor Preview in Seattle Washington.
