Jacksonville Jaguars Name New Offensive Coordinator, It’s Not Chip Kelly
Former Oregon Football and San Francisco 49ers Coach Chip Kelly lost out on the Offensive Coordinator position for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On Wednesday, Jacksonville announced that Nathaniel Hackett will remain Offensive Coordinator for the Jaguars leaving Chip Kelly continuing to look for employment in the National Football League. With Jacksonville out, there are still other options for Kelly, but it appears Houston may not be one of them.
Earlier today, Bill O’Brien announced that he would take over play calling duties for the Houston Texans taking up a spot on the Coaching Staff. The team will not be hiring an Offensive Coordinator according to NBC Sports. As far as looking for a new Quarterback, Brock Osweiler may be their best bet for at least another season and keeping him comfortable in the current system that did get the Texans to 9-7 and a Playoff berth may be the best the team can hope for.
Hiring Chip Kelly would bring a new Offensive Style and likely upset the apple cart so to speak with a new dynamic the team isn’t ready for. As far as where Kelly may land, the well is starting to dry up. Returning to College is an option, but the opportunities there may also be short lived.
