Chip Kelly Meets With Bill Belichick, Could He Land In New England?

Chip Kelly has been turned down by Jacksonville and has now spoken with New England concerning a job opportunity.

Earlier this week Chip Kelly was in the offices in Jacksonville discussing the Offensive Coordinator position with the Jaguars. He was denied after Nathaniel Hackett accepted the position. The Houston Texans could have been another destination, but Head Coach Bill O’Brien announced he was taking over play calling duties. On Friday, ESPN reported that Kelly may find the best option yet.

Chip Kelly could find a landing spot with the New England Patriots. Kelly and Bill Belichick have a history. They have faced each other on the field, and Kelly knows the area well-being from New Hampshire. All things may lead to the perfect spot for him to reset his career. Of course where and what he will do is still under consideration, if there is an offer.

One possibility before this week would have been to replace Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels had he left for a Head Coaching position. That possibility now seems unlikely after he pulled his name from the San Francisco 49ers search.

Chip Kelly will likely need somewhere to rebuild his reputation if he wants to remain in the NFL. He has a 28-35 record with Philadelphia and San Francisco as a Head Coach.
