The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee announced the Top 16 Seeds and there is respect for the Oregon Ducks.

The top four seeds in each region were announced on Saturday morning. Rather than waiting till March 12th, the NCAA is doing a mini version of the AP Poll and dropping the top 16 seeds with a month to go. In the eyes of the Selection Committee the Oregon Ducks have some work to do to earn a 1 seed, but in reality, they don’t have far to go.

The Oregon Ducks overall body of work has been impressive. It has seen a 17 game winning streak, a 40 game winning streak extended at Matthew Knight Arena and a signature home win over the Arizona Wildcats. Dana Altman’s team did hit a bump in the road with a loss to UCLA on Thursday.

Oregon is lined up to enter the NCAA Tournament as a very respectable 2 seed. UCLA has lost at home recently and that has been factored in. The UCLA Bruins are a 4 seed despite beating Oregon. The Ducks win over 5th ranked Arizona is holding some weight. The Arizona Wildcats round out the Pac-12 in the Top16  as a 3 seed.

The conversation and debate for the next month has been laid out. Wins by Oregon are clearly better than losses. The loss to Baylor early WAS the Ducks ‘Good’ Loss. The regular season is winding down toward the Pac-12 Tournament where winning the Conference may just get the Ducks to a 1 Seed.
