Oregon Softball took care of business against Hofstra and Idaho State to open the Oregon Invitational.
The Oregon Ducks opened Jane Sanders Stadium with a doubleheader Friday. Let’s just say if you blinked – you missed something in the first game. Oregon started the game with 6 runs in the first inning, 4 in the second, 3 in the third, and 3 in the fourth to take a 16-0 lead. Hofstra saw their Starter last 1/3 of an inning. Pitcher Alyssa Irons could not find any answers and saw her ERA jump close to 3 points. Oregon run-ruled the opener at Jane Sanders 16-0 with Megan Kleist giving up six hits. It was the Ducks 20th win on the season. Oregon’s Offense was potent.
Oregon hit .500 for the game and better than .750 in scoring position. The Ducks Starting Pitcher Megan Kleist hit her first home run in her first ever at bat at Jane Sanders stadium. Idaho State took on Oregon in the second game of the day.
The momentum continued for the Oregon Ducks. The team scored runs in the first three innings to take a 3-1 lead. The Ducks kept the Offense moving in the bottom of the third. It started with Jenna Lilley before Shannon Rhodes hit a bases clearing triple making it 8-1 Oregon. Rhodes added a run for a 9-1 lead.
Idaho State rallied to score two runs to keep the game alive in the top of the 5th against Miranda Elish. She would throw the final three innings picking up the Ducks 21st win of the year with 7 strikeouts.
The Oregon Ducks continued the Oregon Invitational on Saturday with two games against Idaho State(3pm PT) and Pacific(5:30pm PT).
