Oregon Baseball: Ducks Pick Up 300th Win For George Horton vs Santa Clara

Oregon Baseball Head Coach George Horton watched his team help him get to 300 wins on Saturday against Santa Clara 10-0.

Horton has been with the program since it was reinstated in 2009. On Saturday he looked up at the scoreboard at the end of the game and saw his 300th win in an Oregon Ducks Uniform paced by Matt Mercer who threw seven innings of three-hit ball against Santa Clara.

The Oregon Offense dropped 15 hits led by Gabe Matthews who had four hits and two runs to go with a homerun and 4 RBI’s on the afternoon. Kyle Kassar had two runs and two hits and it hitting .375 from the leadoff spot as Oregon continues the tune-up for Pac-12 play. While 300 in an accomplishment for Head Coach George Horton, another milestone approaches in 2017.

Horton is just 10 wins away from picking up his 800th win as a Division I Head Coach.

Oregon hit .441 as a team compared to just .133 for Santa Clara. The Ducks Offensive output was the biggest over the last month. Santa Clara had four hits against Mercer and left five batters on base for the game.
