The Miami Dolphins make Linebacker Kiko Alonso a top priority a few weeks ago signing him to a tender offer and have worked out a deal keeping him in Miami for at least the next three years.

Kiki Alonso had a breakout season in 2016 for the Dolphins. It was a huge bounce back year to show his potential. Alonso has been through surgeries going back to his time with the Oregon Ducks. He lost the entire 2014 season to injury and was traded to Miami where he began his comeback.

He posted 115 tackles, two picks and four pass breakups last season, his first with the Dolphins. The reward was worth the wait. Alonso signed a $25 million extension through 2020, which includes over $18 million in guaranteed funds. Not bad for a guy who will be looked to as a playmaker for the next few seasons in Miami.

In his first season in Buffalo, he was a rangy beast that had 159 tackles. Miami is hopeful that the former Oregon Ducks will return to his old form sooner rather than later.

Kiko Alonso is living the story of redemption. He played for Oregon from 2008-2012, but saw limited action with legal issues, injuries and eventual reinstatement. He was selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.
