Oregon Softball: Ducks Sweep Portland State, Move to 35-0

The Oregon Ducks faced Portland State in a quick doubleheader on Tuesday evening.

Miranda Elish earned the win in the first game that saw Portland State outhit Oregon, but the Ducks came out of it with a 3-1 win to remain undefeated on the season at 34-0. The Ducks went back to work 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game for the nightcap.

Mike White watched the Ducks get off to a decent start with Alexis Mack and Danica Mercado scoring on an Gwen Svekis infield single. With a 2-0 lead, Oregon loaded the bases when Jenna Lilley was hit by a pitch with no one out in the inning. Oregon added two more runs for a 4 run lead.

Haley Cruse hit a triple after Portland State hit three batters in the inning. The ball was just inside the right field line scoring three Oregon Ducks and opening the game to a 7-0 Oregon lead. The Ducks added another run to make it 8-0 and a run-ruled win. Megan Kleist was able to find success following a rough start last weekend and Oregon will need her later this week.

The victory also ties the best start in NCAA History for a Softball team to start a season at 35-0.

The Oregon Ducks head down to UCLA for a three-game series starting on Friday. The series begins Friday(7pm PT), continues Saturday(7pm PT) and concludes on Sunday at 2pm PT.
