The Oregon Ducks spend the weekend in Non-Conference play starting with UC Irvine in a three-game series at PK Park.
UC Irvine comes in at 12-13 on the season and begins a seven-game road trip in Eugene. The Ant Eagers can hit. The team has four players hitting better than .300 and one close to .400. Keston Hiura will be the player to watch for the weekend. He has 35 hits and leads UC Irvine with six home runs on the season.
For the Oregon Ducks, the team saw struggles last weekend at Utah losing two of three games but rebounded with a victory at BYU on Monday. Oregon can reach the 20 win mark with a good performance this weekend at home. The ball on Friday night will be in the hand of David Peterson who has been a sparkplug this season.
After a 1-1 start, he has won five straight games he has been recognized with several National Honors. At the plate, Matthew Dyer leads the team batting .340. The Oregon Ducks can improve their patience at the plate this weekend in non-conference play. If David Peterson can find the strike zone like the last time he played at home I expect double-digit strikeouts for the Ducks Ace.
Keep in mind the wind in Eugene on Friday was pushing gusts of 30-40 miles per hour, but those are expected to subside by the start of the game.
