Oregon Basketball Recruiting: Ducks Receive Verbal Commitment From 4-Star Kenny Wooten

The Oregon Ducks have seven scholarship spots to fill for the 2017 season, and one may be taken from a top power forward in Kenny Wooten.

Kenny Wooten visited the University of Oregon last week and liked what he saw. There is an opportunity for playing time. With seven players departing via the NBA Draft, graduation, or for personal reasons, the roster will have some playing time available for the upcoming season.

Wooten recognizes this and on Monday announced on Twitter that he was verbally committed to the Oregon Ducks. It makes the fourth commitment for Dana Altman and the upcoming recruiting class.

According to 247Sports, Wooten pulled his commitment from Arizona State late last year and decided on Oregon after the visit. He is considered the country’s 125th best player and also held offers from Kansas, Illinois and SMU.

The Oregon Ducks lost a ton of experience at the end of the season. The team will be young next year and need to either find leadership with incoming players or by a transfer or two coming in with experience. Expect more news concerning the program in the coming weeks. Oregon has six scholarship spots to fill and there is interest in the program.

Head Coach Dana Altman and his coaches know how to recruit and bring in top talent. It will be the first time in his 7+ seasons in Eugene that the team will undergo this big of a makeover. Youth will be served next season.
