Oregon Basketball Recruiting: 5-Star Brandon McCoy Commits To UNLV
Dana Altman has seen doors open in recruiting since making a Final Four run, but one that remained closed was for 5-Star Brandon McCoy.
The Oregon Ducks are a team in transition They will be young in 2017, younger then they have been in the time that Dana Altman has been Head Coach. Oregon has six open roster spots, and scholarships to go with them. On Monday, Kenny Wooten announced he was coming to play for Altman and the Ducks, which is good news.
The pieces will need to fall into place and one that fell the way of UNLV on Tuesday was 5-Star Center Brandon McCoy, who was certainly on the Oregon Ducks radar with roster spots to fill. The near guarantee of playing time next season was apparently not enough to pull McCoy away from the Runnin’ Rebels.
ESPN ranks McCoy as the #15 overall player and #4 center entering the 2017 season. UNLV is rebuilding too. The team went 11-21 last season where the Oregon Ducks are one of the elite programs in the country looking for a sooner rather than later turnaround to get back to playing deep into the NCAA Tournament in future seasons.
247Sports saw the Oregon Ducks in his future. Head Coach Dana Altman visited with McCoy back in January.
