Oregon Starter David Peterson used motivation from a rough start last week to pick up a win over Arizona State(18-21, 5-11 Pac-12) on Friday night.

The Oregon Ducks(24-13, 7-9 Pac-12) have had a rough few weeks after being swept at home last weekend against Stanford and losing two of three games on the road against Arizona. David Peterson was a reason for the losing streak to continue last week. Coming off a solid start against the Wildcats, Peterson was not himself after being ill the previous week leading up to his start.

Stanford was able to get hits and plenty of them. That was not the case on Friday night against Arizona State where Peterson put his best foot forward and shattered several records along the way.

David Peterson struck out 20 Arizona State batters and saved the Ducks bullpen for the rest of the weekend in a 2-0 shutout win to get Oregon back on the winning track. Gabe Matthews provided the Offense for the Ducks going 2 for 4. Matthew Dyer was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Peterson held Arizona State to hitting just .129, but the Ducks weren’t much better at .156. It was enough to win the game.
