Baseball America: David Peterson Inside Top Twenty MLB Draft Prospects
Oregon Ducks Starter David Peterson has been the bright spot of the Oregon Pitching Staff and is getting notice at the next level.
Earlier this week Baseball America released their list of the Top 200 Baseball Prospects and David Peterson is ranked 16th. Peterson has been the Friday Starting Pitcher all season for Oregon. Throughout the year he has done his best to get the team off to good starts and has done so most of the time. The Oregon Junior Pitcher has also had multiple double-digit strikeout games which as likely added to his appeal by scouts.
The Oregon Ducks are hosting the Oregon State Beavers this weekend at PK Park and upwards of 35 scouts will be on hand to watch the talent on the field between Oregon and Oregon State. Luke Heimlich, who may oppose Peterson on Friday comes in 31st on the Baseball America list.
Oregon Baseball saw their Friday night game last week against Washington State rained out, moving the game to a Saturday doubleheader. Peterson started and won the game throwing 7 innings. This week, Oregon and Oregon State begin their three game series on Thursday. According to Head Coach George Horton, his ace will not be on the mound Thursday, but will likely get his start on Friday.
David Peterson is 10-2 with a 1.99 ERA this season. He has a complete game to his credit to go with 117 strikeouts.
