Oregon Ducks Season Comes To Disappointing End vs UCLA
The Oregon Ducks Baseball team saw their season come to an end over the weekend following a 10-1 loss to UCLA.
The season started well for the Oregon Ducks. A hot start with David Peterson on the mound saw Oregon climb to 22 in the Rankings before things fell apart in April and May. The team could not quite get it together in the second half of the season. The Statistics said it all. After six innings, if Oregon was losing they were 0-20. The team was not built to come back from a deficit, which ultimately was their Achilles Heel.
While Oregon State landed the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Ducks will stay home for the Postseason thinking about what might have been. In more than a handful of games it was a single or double that could have won the game. Oregon State came to Eugene earlier this month and swept the Ducks on their own turf. To add insult to injury, they also took the Pac-12 Title and won Head Coach Pat Casey’s 1000th game in the process.
Oregon lost the final series of the year to the UCLA Bruins as Cole Stringer game up two runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Ducks were not able to catch up. There was a highlight to end the year. Leadoff man Kyle Kassar finished the season batting .352, the highest batting average of the modern era according to GoDucks.com.
