Oregon Track and Field: Ducks Will Represent At World Championships

Deajah Stevens and Demarcus Simpson won U.S. Titles in the 200 Meters and the Long Jump and will compete in the World Stage in London.

The Oregon Ducks will be well-represented with the past and present in August at the IAAF World Championships. Over the weekend at the U.S. Championships in Sacramento, California Deajah Stevens added a U.S. Championship to go with her Oregon career. She ran with a headwind and won the title with a run of 22.30.  Stevens will have some company in August.

Oregon Teammate Demarcus Simpson will join her after his Semifinal run in the Long Jump gave him fifth place. For the Final, he saved his best as jumped to a 3rd place finish, good enough for a trip across the pond.  Another former Oregon Duck had an impressive showing in Sacramento.

Former Oregon Duck and Olympian Devon Allen finished 3rd in the 110 Meter Hurdles less than a  year after suffering his second knee injury in two years. Allen signed with NIKE and ran in 13.34.

Raevyn Rogers, the reigning NCAA Champion in the 800 Meters just missed the cut to compete in London. She has won the NCAA Title five straight times, but came in fourth in the Final. Oregon Runner Kyrie King also came up short with a 4th place finish in the 400 Meters.

Rogers, King and Arianna Washington are considered alternates for the World Championships. Washington finished 4th in the 200 Meters.

The 2017 World Championships in London, England will take place Saturday, August 5th through Sunday, August 13th.
