Last week, Oregon Track and Field picked up a commitment from Shae Anderson, who could focus her attention on the Heptathlon.

According to Milespot, Anderson has had impressive times in events throughout her high school career where she was homeschooled, which limited her exposure and also opportunity to be recruited. She ran a State leading 2:11 race in California this past year. She also saw a personal best this past year running an 11.76 100 Meters and has decided that the University of Oregon is where she wants to continue her career.

Shae Anderson comes to Oregon with a competitive spirit. Her father has been her coach and that will change once she competes at Hayward Field. She is considering making a move to the Heptathlon. Oregon has not seen a Heptathlete since the success of Brianne Theisen-Eaton at Hayward.

Anderson could make an immediate impact starting this Fall. Her strong point appears to be the Trackside, where she has posted big times and even landed a #1 finishing spot at the Mt. Sac Relays in her career.

Oregon may have found a Diamond in the Rough in the State of California.

Anderson joins a team that is coming off the Triple Crown of the Sport winning the Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor seasons during the 2017 season. She will certainly help the Oregon Women’s Track and Field team reload for the upcoming season.
