Oregon Football Quarterback Justin Herbert was named among the Top Five Quarterbacks in the Pac-12 Conference for 2017.

The top of the list should be no surprise with USC Trojans Quarterback Sam Darnold and Washington QB Jake Browning. Many are predicting their respective teams as the tops in the Conference, but it’s only August. Athlon Sports ranked Justin Herbert in the top half of at number five.

For a team coming off a 4-8 season under new leadership and a new scheme, this is very respectable. Herbert is the highest ranked Sophomore returning signal caller. Athlon Sports explains part of the reasoning behind the number five ranking. Willie Taggart is big key, and also his success in 2016.

"The Ducks handed the keys to the offense to Herbert after a 2-3 start last season and found the next star quarterback in Eugene. Over the last eight contests, Herbert threw for 1,936 yards and 19 touchdowns and added 161 yards on the ground.Athlon Sports on Quarterback Justin Herbert"

Herbert could surprise this Fall. He spent part of his summer with the Manning’s – along with Darnold. In speaking on Media Day on Sunday with Coach Taggart, Herbert has also added about 15 pounds of muscle to his frame which should pay dividends on the field this season. He has also transformed into a more vocal leader. His teammates are 100 percent behind him and the team has a more ‘together’ feel then last season.
