Oregon Ducks Set To Face Top Competition In Puerta Vallarta To Start 2018
The Oregon Softball team returns a bevy of talent and will begin the 2018 season in Mexico.
Oregon Head Coach Mike White is coming off yet another appearance in the NCAA Tournament with the Ducks. The team had a few struggles last season, but again could not quite get to the finish line and the National Championship. With the start of the season still a good six months away, the schedule is beginning to be put together.
It was announced on Thursday that the Ducks will head to Mexico to play in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. Texas, Ole Miss, Rutgers and Houston are teams on Oregon’s side of the bracket an according to GoDucks.com the matchups will be announced next week on August 9th.
Oregon Softball will look to build on the success of 2017 with all three Starting Pitchers returning led by Megan Kleist who begins her Junior Year. The infield returns four Starters and Oregon will look to replace someone who is pretty irreplacable in Nikki Udria. The Outfield also returns two regulars from last season in Shannon Rhodes and Leadoff Hitter Alexis Mac.
During the season in 2018 Oregon will also face Florida State in an early season tournament, the return of the home and home from last season. The Ducks started the season 35-0 for their best start ever. Oregon was all business in the three game series and swept Florida State at Jane Sanders Stadium.

The full schedule will be released at a later date, but I would expect the first game in Eugene to be in March. Softball has started the season – and the better part of the non-conference slate on the road in years past.
