Former Oregon Duck David Peterson struggled in his first game for the Brooklyn Cyclones.

It has been a busy few months for David Peterson. After being the glue on the mound for the Oregon Baseball team in 2017, the Ducks season came to an end without an NCAA Tournament Appearance. Peterson was a sure fire first round MLB Draft pick and went to the New York Mets.

It has been 73 Days since he has thown a Live Pitch, but started out his career with a fastball down the middle for a strike on Friday night. Things fell apart after that for the latest Mets Acqusition. It was one of those minor league games where everyone needs work, so Peterson went out and threw an inning, gave up a few hits and one earned run.

HIs line on the night saw 17 total pitches and an 9.00 ERA.

The Cyclones Offense had a tough time finding the ball managing  a 4-2 loss to Tri-City.

While it was not a great start for Peterson, that’s how the game of Baseball goes. There are always ups and always downs. I expect that the former Oregon PItcher will be on the mound again over the next week. Regardless of the down time, Peterson is the type of pitcher who needs time to warm up in a game and requires more than one inning to begin to show what he can do. teh opportunity to settle down will also do him some good.

Even though he gave up a run, that first pitch down the middle sent the crowd of over 4700 to their feet. That had to feel pretty good.
