Oregon Football Recruiting: 2017 JUCO Defensive Tackle Malik Young Joins Ducks
Oregon Football takes the field for the 2017 season in ten days and Wednesday added a Defensive Tackle for the upcoming season.
Recruiting has been a strongpoint for Head Coach Willie Taggart and the Coaching Staff since they arrived in Eugene. Defensive Tackle is a key area of need and less than two weeks till the start of the season, the Ducks added Junior College Transfer Malik Young. Young is in Eugene after arriving on Wednesday night. He is working to get onto the Practice Field soon and needs to pass a physical according to Duck Territory.
The Three-Star Defensive Tackle was previously commited to MIssouri, but was found ineligible to play. He is 6 foot 2 and 280 pounds and brings experience to be an immediate impact player in a key area of need in Jim Leavitt’s Defense.
Tranfer Scott Pagano, who came to Oregon Football from Clemson in the offseason is still not on the field with the Ducks. He underwent a procedure on his foot and was expected to be ready for the Season Opener against Southern Utah. After speaking on Wednesday with Leavitt, it seems that Pagano may need some additional time to heal up before he takes the field at Autzen Stadium.
Leavitt was one of the first hires by Head Coach Willie Taggart. Pagano is expected to help sure up a Defensive Line that was terrible last season against the run, being part of the reason the Oregon Ducks were among the last not only in the Pac-12 Conference, but in the country on that side of the ball.
