T.J. Ward Cut By Denver Broncos, Finds New Home With Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Last week T.J. Ward was cut by the Denver Broncos, but didn’t have to wait long to find a new home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Roster cuts hit the National Football League on Saturday and among those looking for new homes was Safety T.J. Ward. Team President John Elway saw a youth movement in Camp that allowed the Denver Broncos to part ways with Ward and his over $20 million salary for the upcoming season. The former Oregon Duck says the way that Denver went about releasing him was unprofessional.
Ward told ESPN the Organization kept him in the dark as to what they were planning on when it came to their former Starting Safety. Just as it was at Oregon, the locker room in Tampa was a key reason that he signed with the Buccaneers.
T.J. Ward enters a locker room with some familiarity and guys that handle their ‘business’ according to the report. It is also a locker room with the common goal of chasing a Championship. Ward would have liked the opportunity to finish his NFL Career with the Broncos, but is also looking forward to the opportunity with a new team.
He was not available during much of the preseason with a hamstring injury which unfortunately made him expendable in Denver, which is why I believe he was cut by the Broncos. Ward is entering his eighth season in the National Football League.
