Oregon Football(1-0) is slowing working toward some respectability for the 2017 season, but need a quality win to get there.
Both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches Poll have the Oregon Ducks outside the Top 25, but some teams have made what I would consider to be ‘Power’ moves after their first week victories. In both polls, the Penn State Nittany Lions jumped the USC Trojans. Last season the Trojans came away with a victory in the Rose Bowl over Penn State. Depending on the poll you look at their are four or five Pac-12 Conference teams ranked including USC, Washington, and Stanford to lead the charge.
Oregon Football currently sits in the 30th spot overall. There are several other Pac-12 teams vying for attention including UCLA who had a come from behind win behind Josh Rosen and Colorado is looking to make a push into the rankings. Utah and Washington State are both ahead of Oregon, but the Ducks can make a moderate move since they face both teams over the course of the next few months.
The top of the poll is no surprise with Alabama at number one. Florida State dropped to tenth after their loss over the weekend, but the Seminoles have bigger concerns the rest of the season. Now is the time I like to look ahead to potential Bowl Matchups and if Oregon continues to bring the Juice, a team like Florida State that will have a stumble or two without their Starting Quarterback, could be landing in a Bowl Game against Oregon.
Of course, it is a long season and we’re only in Week 2.
