Former Oregon Football Tight End Evan Baylis Set To Start For Houston Texans
Former Oregon Tight End will be the lone Tight End in action for Houston on Thursday Night.
Sometimes opportunity presents itself. In the case of the Houston Texans this week, opportunity will fall to former Oregon Tight End Evan Baylis. After facing the Jacksonville Jaguars Defense last week, the Texans are hurting with five players in Concussion Protocol and unable to play this week.
Baylis was a member of the Houston Texans Practice Squad and signed with the club. During the NFL Preseason, the former Oregon Tight End had 32 yards and a fumble against the Carolina Panthers. His first opportunity to show off his skill set is Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Houston and Cincinnati are looking for their first win of the season after starting the Regular Season 0-1 last week. Deshaun Watson had a 100 yard game in limited duty last weekend for Houston. He finished the game 12 of 23 for 102 yards and a touchdown. The story of the game was the Jacksonville Defense who out rushed and outplayed the Texans Offense.
Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Andy Dalton had an average game going 16 for 31 and throwing for 170 yards. Baylis could be a solid addition and a nice outlet in the Houston Offense thanks to his pass catching ability if the Texans Quarterback is unable to find an open Wide Receiver.
With the Concussion Protocol it is possible that Houston will face Cincinnati with just a single tight end on their roster in Evan Baylis. Despite a lackluster 4-8 season with Oregon in 2016, Baylis had 68 yards and touchdown when he wasn’t blocking and was a key outlet for Vernon Adams in 2015.
