Arizona State may have weapons on Offense, but their Defense took a hit on Monday when a key player was ruled out this week vs Oregon Football.
Linebacker Koron Crump was ruled out indefinitely by ASU Head Coach Todd Graham on Tuesday.
Crump was injured against Texas Tech and was slated to return to the game, but did not. His loss is big. The 6 foot 3 Crump plays multiple positions for Arizona State that include Defense End and Linebacker. He can pretty much lineup anywhere on the field to try and fool opposing Offenses. It is a role that cannot easily be replaced.
Crump started the season on fire with four sacks in the first week of the College Football Season and led the nation in the category. The Sundevils dropped to 1-2 after a tough seven point loss to the Red Raiders and now their season may hinge on beating Oregon to get back to the .500 mark before October begins.
According to Devils Digest, Junior Linebacker Abraham Thompson filled in on the First Team Offense this week with converted Junior Tight End Jay Jay Wilson taking snaps on the second team. When you have a specialist like Koron Crump it will be a hard spot to fill, especially facing a team like Oregon that has been building Offensive momentum since the start of the season.
Arizona State is struggling this season despite having talent on Offense. With the Oregon Football Defense playing with confidence it could be a long night Saturday for the Sundevils.
