Head coach Dana Altman has taken his success with the Ducks basketball team and is using it to his advantage on the recruiting trail. Could they receive a five-star commitment today?

Coming off of a Final Four run last season, Altman is looking to take the Oregon program to the next level. That task could get a major boost today.

Five-star small forward prospect Louis King has Oregon in his top five, and is set to announce his commitment today.

The Ducks are considered to be the favorite to gain the services of the 15th best player in the country (247sports.com). King recently visited Oregon, his only official visit so far, and recently received an in-home visit from Altman.

King also participated on the USA under-19 team, which also featured star Oregon point guard Peyton Pritchard.

With back to back Pac-12 championships and a Final Four last season, the Ducks are now contenders for some of the nation’s top players.

Oregon finished their most recent recruiting cycle with the 13th best class in the nation. That class included five-star small forward Troy Brown, the 13th best player in the nation.

For the 2018 class, the Ducks already have one commit in four-star power forward Miles Norris. A commitment from King would boost Oregon to one of the top classes in the country.

What is most exciting for Duck fans is that Oregon is also in for other top players in this class.

The crown jewel of 2018 is RJ Barrett, who lead his home country Canada to an U-19 basketball championship. Barrett has Oregon in his top group, and is officially visiting Eugene this weekend.

Oregon has had a long-standing Canadian pipeline, which might appeal to the top 2018 player in the country.

Altman and the Ducks are also major contenders for top guys like shooting guard Luguentz Dort and power forward Emmitt Williams

With other conference contenders like Arizona, UCLA, and USC, the Ducks must stay hot on the recruiting trail. With guys like Norris, King, and Barrett, the Ducks can move towards being perennial national contenders.
