Kenjon Barner Returns To Philadelphia Eagles, Signs One Year Deal
Former Oregon Football Running Back Kenjon Barner can be considered well traveled at this point, landing again in Philadelphia following the injury diagnosis for Darren Sproles.
Barner signed a one-year deal to remain in the City of Brotherly Love, after starting the season with the Los Angeles Chargers. He was cut on September 2nd. Darren Sproles has been the ageless wonder for a few seasons now. His durability started to take a hit in recent seasons, but the Veteran kept on going, until this week.
On Sunday, against the New York Giants, Running Back Darren Sproles tore an ACL and broke his arm on the same play. He is done for the rest of the 2017 season and may retire. Barner, who signed the deal on Tuesday is no stranger to Philadelphia.
After being Drafted by the Carolina Panthers, depth was an issue, and he moved to Philadelphia to begin his NFL Career with a familiar face in Chip Kelly, his former coach at Oregon. Barner’s Stats don’t exactly jump off the page, but it is a matter of experience and getting into the game.
For his career, he has just under 300 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He has found more success as a return man with a 25-yard return on average. Sproles was a key for Philadelphia this season. He averaged over 4 yards per play and came through on seveal occasions as a Receiver for Quarterback Carson Wentz.
