LeGarrette Blount had a breakout game against the Los Angeles Chargers and showed why he should still be valued in the National Football League.

Former Oregon and New England Patriots Running Back LeGarrette Blount showed he had something left in the tank for Philadelphia on Sunday. In a game which the Eagles led on the road a good part of the way, Blount sealed the win with a 68-yard run in a 26-24 win on the road in San Diego.

The former Super Bowl Champion signed with Philadelphia in May and after the first three games of the season, some were starting to wonder if he could lead the young group of Running Backs. Over the last two weeks he has answered that question. In the last two games, the Eagles Ground Game has come alive to the tune of over 300 yards averaging 5.3 yards per carry.

When it was announced he was coming to Philadelphia I thought he was the perfect fit. He was a hard-nosed downhill runner. When he was with the Patriots he was known for punishing runs. Many of them were not for 68 yards, but shorter distances of 10-15 yards. The reason he is in Philadelphia is to give them something they did not have before – a big, powerful Rusher.

With the season loss of Darren Sproles, this was even more important. The last two weeks have opened eyes that Philadelphia can have a ground game. Let’s hope that continues for the Eagles all season.

Philadelphia is 3-1 and they have a new player that may be more ‘Phiilly’ than anyone realizes.
