Oregon Football could see the return of Quarterback Justin Herbert sooner rather than later.

Earlier this week in practice, Head Coach Willie Taggart said the plan was to go with Freshman Braxton Burmeister moving forward, but after watching Herbert in practice the last two days, it appears that he is close to returning.

A fractured collarbone typically takes 4-6 weeks to heal and over the last month, Herbert has been drinking his milk. Wednesday he was in rotation with the other Quarterbacks with Burmeister first. Herbert threw several short passes with accuracy and just missed Charles Nelson with a mid range throw off the right side. He may not get the start on Saturday against Utah, but may get some playing time as he continues to recover.

Oregon and Utah are two teams looking for a win. Both are on three game Conference losing streaks, but do you risk your Starting Quarterback for a win against Utah?

"Always an option, there’s always a chance. How much? I can’t tell you that, but there’s always a chance.Head Coach Willie Taggart on Quarterback Justin Herbert Playing vs Utah"

Braxton Burmeister has made Freshman Mistakes in his three games as Starter, and that was expected. He showed improvement, especially in the passing game, against UCLA last week and ran for two touchdowns in the first half to help Oregon take a 14-14 tie into the locker room at halftime.

It may be best for Herbert to take another week, but he looked good on the Practice Fields and could be ready to lead Oregon against Utah on Saturday. (2:45 pm Pacific Time, Pac-12 Network)
