Oregon Basketball: Ducks Face Northwest Christian University In Season Tune-up
Former Oregon Player Luke Jackson brings 2-0 Northwest Christian University to Matthew Knight Arena on Monday night.
NCU already has wins over Northwest Indian College and New Hope Christian College. The Beacons are averaging 114 points per game. Head Coach Luke Jackson is entering his fifth year at the helm and brings an experienced group to the cross-town rivalry.
Austin Tyner through to games is averaging just over 10 points per game averaging 20 minutes on the floor. NCU is in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and ranked third early in the season hitting 51 percent from the floor as a team. Entering the game with Oregon they are also the only team that has played two games in the early season.
The Oregon Ducks have faced Idaho in an exhibition last weekend. Transfer Elijah Brown took over the game with 17 points shooting 5 for 7 from the floor. Victor Bailey Jr. had 20 points in 23 minutes on the floor. One impressive stat, the Ducks had 15 assists. For a team that is still working in chemistry with a lot of new faces, it is a good sign.
For Oregon, I know the constant is Payton Pritchard. He will get consistent starts for every game and will also play a key role in working his new teammates into games in 2017. Oregon shot 50 percent from the floor and 70 percent from beyond the arc against Idaho. Both the Men’s and Women’s teams raised more than $15,000 for the American Red Cross Oregon Wildfire Fund.
Following the game with NCU, Oregon faces Oklahoma in Las Vegas in a closed environment(no media) before officially starting the 2017 season next week.
