Oregon Football: Ducks One-Dimensional Offense Fails In Loss to Washington
The Oregon Ducks were one-dimensional on Offense in a lopsided 38-3 defeat vs Washington.
Oregon Football headed North to face the Washington Huskies after a year’s worth of reminding of last seasons loss at Autzen Stadium, snapping a 12 game winning streak for the Ducks. Oregon came into the game with a new coaching staff and a new mindset.
Washington won the coin toss and deferred to the second half giving Oregon the ball first.
To start the game Braxton Burmeister, Charles Nelson and Royce Freeman on a solid opening drive keeping downs in check with several converted third and short opportunities. The drive ended with an Aiden Schneider field goal giving Oregon an early 3-0 lead.
Oregon’s Defense started their first opportunity on the field with two tackles for loss in the first three plays of the game. It was third and long for the Huskies. Browning completed the pass for 46 yards catching Oregon off guard. The Ducks would cover on the next third down forcing a field goal attempt that would miss wide right from 45 yards out.
The Ducks started their second drive with a fumble by Kani Benoit gaving the ball back to the Huskies following a series of penalties. Washington took over at their 30-yard line.
Oregon’s first series of the second half was six run plays resulting in a punt. Royce Freeman did break 100 yards on the drive giving him twenty-nine 100 yard games in his Oregon Career, but still, no key passing from Burmeister at Quarterback. The Huskies took over at the 20-yard line.
Washington Running Back Lavon Coleman found the highlight reel with a touchdown run of 31 yards that saw him sit and spin-off Jimmie Swain and scamper into the end zone as Washington added to their lead, 31-3.
Oregon again ran on their next Offensive series, but the third fumble of the night ended any chance of getting close to the end zone. The Ducks were again forced to punt.
Salvon Ahmed added to the Oregon Ducks misery with a 58-yard touchdown run to add to the Huskies total, 38-3 Washington. For Oregon to put up any points would be a victory, but a very predictable run offense can only get you so far.
In the end, it was a rough night for the Oregon Football Offense. While Running Back Royce Freeman added to his season accomplishments, Oregon was unable to score a touchdown, ending a 110 game run dating back to 2007.
