Oregon Football: Royce Freeman Shows Durability vs Washington

EUGENE, OR - OCTOBER 28: Royce Freeman
EUGENE, OR - OCTOBER 28: Royce Freeman

For Oregon Football, Royce Freeman has been productive on the field and continues to reset the record books in 2017.

Last season, Running Back Royce Freeman was limited vs Washington. On Saturday he made the 2nd Best Rushing Defense in the Country work grounding out over 100 yards and he was the first Running Back to do it vs Washington this season.

Freeman had 24 carries for 122 yards in a rough loss vs Washington. He averaged over 5 yards per carry in a loss where the only thing Oregon Football could do…was run. Without Justin Herbert at the helm, backup Braxton Burmeister had the opportunity to throw the ball. When he did it was not pretty.

In the first half, he was 7 for 8. He ended the game 7 for 13 for 31 yards. That is not going to win a football game. Aside from the number from Freeman, the Oregon Running Backs put 247 yards of Offense on the ground.

Running Back Royce Freeman is already the Oregon Ducks All-Time leading rusher. On Saturday he passed Herschel Walker on the All-Time list. The game also marked the 29th consecutive 100-yard rushing performance by the Senior, extending his own record at Oregon.

Freeman has had some successful seasons with Oregon Football, and some not so successful seasons. Oregon is still within reach of a bowl game with two wins to close out the season.

Willie Taggart said last week that it was important for Oregon to finish strong. Freeman was one of those guys who wanted to leave Oregon in better hands than when he arrived. He has experienced everything from a National Championship, to losing a coaching staff, to making the decision to return to school and start over.

Oregon has a bye week before hosting the final two home games against Arizona and Oregon State. The elder statesman of the Pac-12 Running Backs has just two(maybe three) games left in his career at the University of Oregon.
