Marcus Mariota Leads Tennessee To Top Of AFC South With Win Over Baltimore
Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans are in control in the AFC South with a win over the Baltimore Ravens.
It was a well deserved week off for Marcus Mariota last week. He had the chance to return to Eugene and was spotted at the Oregon Football game vs Utah, a game that was won with a big team effort. Flash forward and it was a team effort that helped Tennessee beat Baltimore on Sunday.
Tight End Delanie Walker is dealing with a bone bruise in his ankle. He played through the pain to bring in 7 catches for 71 yards and helped the Titans to a 23-20 win over the Ravens. Mariota had a solid outing going 19 for 28 for 218 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Joe Flacco came through late to keep his team in the game.
In the fourth quarter, Flacco threw two touchdowns but ran out of time. The Tennessee Defense held Baltimore without a touchdown for three quarters. Baltimore found late efficiency on fourth down going 3 for 4 and also gained a big advantage in yards(341-257) despite losing by three points. The Titans are now 5-3 overall and 3-1 at home this season.
According to ESPN, the win over Baltimore gives Tennessee a statistical advantage of 55 percent to make the Playoffs with the game against Jacksonville to close out the regular season being a key factor as well. Jacksonville is right behind the Titans followed by Buffalo rounding out the AFC Playoff Picture.
