Jake Fisher Diagnosed With Irregular Heartbeat, Season Comes To An End
Cincinnati Bengals Tackle Jake Fisher will have a corrective procedure this week for an irregular heartbeat as his season comes to an end.
Former Oregon Offensive Tackle Jake Fisher fell ill against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend. He left the game midway through and was later given the diagnosis of an irregular heartbeat. Fisher had a procedure on Wednesday to correct the problem. He spent from 2011-2014 with Oregon Football and was the second-round pick with Cincinnati during the 2015 NFL Draft.
Fisher has spent the last 2 seasons with Cincinnati playing several different roles and settled on right tackle for the 2017 season. In his two previous seasons, he played primarily at the Left Tackle position but was also a role player at H-Back in certain situations.
Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis broke the news during an XM NFL Radio appearance saying that Fisher’ needs to not be playing a contact sport for a period of time.” The procedure to fix the irregular heartbeat is scheduled for this week and it is not expected to keep him out of playing football in the future. However, his season is over being placed on the Non-Football Injury list.
Cincinnati travels to Tennessee this weekend to take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. With the loss of Fischer, the Bengals signed Eric Winston to a one-year deal. He spent last season with the team, but his age is a concern. He has started six games with the team but is at this point a band-aid on an Offensive Line where the youth of Fisher was a benefit this season.
