There are 818 days until 2020 National Signing Day, but that didn’t stop Wide Receiver Donnovan Moorer from pulling the trigger on his Oregon commitment.

The Oregon Commit spoke earlier this week with Autzen Zoo and Chris Jones.

“I’ve been talking to the coaches for a while now and I have been silent for sometime,” Moorer said. “The moment Oregon offered, they became one of my top schools.”

With his commitment, the Ducks now have players committed in each of the next three classes.

Head Coach Willie Taggart and Assistant Athletic Director of Football Recruiting Operations David Kelly extended the offer to Moorer back in July.

Despite the amount of time left before he is set to enroll, Moorer knew Oregon was the perfect fit.

“I feel like I fit the play style of a lot of past Oregon players that have gone on to succeed in the NFL,” he said.

“I spoke to coach Kelly a lot and he loved the idea of starting the 2020 class early.”

When Taggart arrived to Eugene to take over the program, he brought a new energy to the recruiting front.

It has lead to a massive uptick in quality commitments, even from sophomores in high school.

“I’ve seen them as top contenders for my whole childhood,” he said. “He (Taggart) is bringing swag and competitive attitude back to Oregon. In no time, they well be back to competing for Pac-12 championships.”

While he grew up with Oregon being at the top of the college football world, the Ducks have struggled recently.

Does that have any effect on how Moorer and other recruits perceive the program?

“This season hasn’t had much effect on my decision,” he said. “With this being Taggart’s first year, I understand things will improve, especially with the way he has been recruiting.”

Hailing from the Southeast, did distance have any effect on how him or his family felt about this decision?

“My whole family was actually really excited about it,” he said. “My mom was pretty sad about the distance, but she always told me to chase my dreams and never be scared to leave home.”

“That is what I am doing, and I am ready for a new chapter.”

It has to help that Taggart has already successfully recruited the state of Florida. Moorer said he has already been welcomed in by the current group of Oregon commits.

“I’ve been in contact with Isaiah Bolden for a month, and he has been a big part of my commitment,” he said. “It’s great knowing that they are building a pipeline down here. ”

Moorer may be the only player currently in the fold for the Ducks in the 2020 class, but according to him, there are more coming.

“Oregon fans should be on the lookout, because there are plenty more on the way,” he said.

“We want to get the class started early, so me and some others let coach Taggart know our plan, and they were all for it.”
