The Oregon Women’s Basketball team takes to the court to open the Preseason WNIT at home against the CSUN Matadors.

The team that made a record run at the NCAA Tournament a year ago returns nearly all of their scoring for the 2017-18 season led by Sophomore Sabrina Ionescu. During her Freshman season, Ionescu became a household name for Oregon Fans and will look to lead the team back to the NCAA Tournament again this season. Despite the loss against Uconn, the respect the Ducks received is apparent.

The team opens the season ranked in the Top 15 and Head Coach Kelly Graves has brought in more talent to a program that has high expectations for the season. Oregon begins the year hosting the first game of the Preseason WNIT and CSUN.

CSUN was picked to finish second in both the media and coaches for the Big West Conference. Channon Fluker is the player to watch. She delivered a mid-season performance in an exhibition game vs The Master’s University with a double-double scoring 17 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. She was one of five players to score double figures in the game.

Oregon Head Coach Kelly Graves has a problem. The amount of talent is beginning the process to cut into the time of players. It is not necessarily a bad problem to have. Talented Freshman Satou Sabally will certainly see floor time on Friday night. She led Oregon in the first half against Westmont earlier this week, the final exhibition game before the start of the season. She had 9 points in the first half.

The Ducks bring experience with Senior Lexi Bando, along with Justine Hall , and Sierra Campisano. Friday night will be the start of a fun journey to watch for Oregon Women’s Basketball. This is definitely not the team from a few years ago and the Kelly Graves Blueprint is being built right before our eyes.
