Oregon Men’s Basketball: Troy Brown Leads Ducks Past Prarie View A&M
The Oregon Ducks Men’s Basketball team shot over 55 percent from the floor in a win over Prarie View A&M Monday night.
It still was not the perfect game for Oregon, but there were more positives than negatives. Troy Brown led the team with 17 points and 9 rebounds, one away from a double-double. Oregon was able to also find offensive efficiency with 19 assists in the game, a 100-67 win. At times, the Ducks looked sluggish but found a way to a 9 point halftime lead.
It was also the first game for Paul White who had an impressive debut with 16 points off 5 for 8 shooting and pulling down 6 rebounds. Prarie View came in with an experienced team, led by Zachary Hamilton who ended the game with 23 points. The Ducks Defense came through with 7 blocks in the first half and a total of 11 in the game.
The Oregon Bench racked up 55 points in the game led by White and Victor Bailey(15).
Dana Altman watched his team force Prarie View A&M into 18 turnovers good for 7 points. Oregon had fewer turnovers with 12, but A&M scored 27 points. Oregon also won the rebounding battle 38-36.
The team is still working on chemistry. Elijah Brown finished just 2 for 7 from three-point range and seems to have lost his touch from the first game of the season. In order for the Ducks to have an edge, Brown needs to find his shot. A three-point shot can change the momentum of a game, even if the team is down.
