Oregon Football Head Coach Willie Taggart will listen to Officials from Florida State.

It has been a busy few weeks of following rumors about Willie Taggart from his location to why he has been non-committal with the Oregon Ducks. On Monday we officially learned why. According to NBC Sports Northwest, Taggart will meet with Florida State Officials concerning their Head Coach opening. The meeting is likely just to listen and hear them out, but friends and foes on Social Media will open up whatever can of worms they can on the situation. John Canzano from the Oregonian also confirmed the meeting.

Since the final whistle of the Oregon State game, which the Ducks won handily, the interest in what is going through the mind of Willie Taggart have been front and center. He has been standoffish with the local media. He has not given a definitive answer as to where he will be coaching next season. During the Press Conference for the Bowl game on Sunday, he continued to be non-committal toward the Oregon Ducks.

Yet, his actions may speak louder. He has been actively recruiting and talking about Oregon Football. On Monday, he was in Arizona spending time with Oregon Recruit Tyler Shough who said they talked about the Ducks. It still makes no sense to me that Taggart would leave Oregon while visiting recruits and glad handing with future of the program in their own homes.

Florida State is a Dream Destination for the Sunshine State native, and if the offer is right, he may decide to go. If not, he should return to Eugene and sign the extension waiting for him. It is unfortunate how far Social Media has come, but the need to know ‘now’ is bigger than ever.

Regardless of the speculation Taggart will have to make a decision. With the recruiting class in mind and fans in Eugene liking the energy around the program this season I hope he decides to stay. We should know soon either way.
