Oregon Football will again begin a Coaching Search as Willie Taggart has agreed to terms with Florida State.
Willie Taggart has been distant from the media over the last few days. When we last spoke with him on Sunday, he was excited about the Las Vegas Bowl and facing Boise State. On Tuesday he was named the new Head Coach for Florida State. Taggart returns home to Florida for his ‘Dream Job’ in his home state. I can’t fault him for that.
Taggart spent 363 days as Head Coach of Oregon Football and turned around a program that was in need of him. His energy, the coaches he brought on board, all made the difference and could still lead to an 8-5 season. Willie Taggart is a fixer. He has been three places and done his best to leave them better than when he arrived. He will also likely not see Oregon through until the end of the season. Taggart has Coached in One Bowl Game with his team making a bowl now three times if you count Oregon.
Willie Taggart, we hardly knew you. You will be the Head Coach responsible for turning around an Oregon Football program that was in desperate need when you arrived. You leave for Florida State with a Thank You for setting a building block that can be added onto by the next man in charge of Oregon Football.

There is plenty ahead for Oregon Football and I’m sure the Ducks contingency plan in place will be coming to light soon. Who will lead Oregon into the Las Vegas Bowl vs Boise State. How long will Oregon take to get a new coach? Time for the Recruiting Class is of the essence. Can Oregon salvage the Class of 2018?
