Oregon Football Sophomore Quarterback Justin Herbert is getting some well-deserved recognition for the 2017 season.

On Thursday, NFL.com named Herbert as one of the top college Quarterbacks to have a shot at the Heisman Trophy in 2018. This season was derailed with an injury against Cal that cost Herbert a big chunk of the season. Oregon still managed to go 7-5 in the regular season and took care of business in the Civil War 69-10 over Oregon State.

Justin Herbert became the starter in his Freshman season, against a stout Washington team under Mark Helfrich, who was fired following a 4-8 season. Willie Taggart brought the team together and rallied around their Quarterback throughout this season helping form Herbert into a seasoned leader on Offense.

Entering next season, Herbert will already have National Attention. Of course, a lot will depend on who enters the picture as Head Coach and the style of Offense Oregon will run.

One other Pac-12 Quarterback is on the list entering 2018. Quarterback Khalil Tate made a name for himself this season with athletic play after athletic play. He enters next year ranked 8th. Herbert is 3rd on the list.

Oregon Football has one Quarterback of late that is a household name. Marcus Mariota’s name is still resonating with Oregon even on Sunday’s when he plays with the Tennessee Titans. While Herbert has a following of his own, the story of a homegrown kid(he is from Eugene), playing in Autzen Stadium is a feel-good story all its own.
