Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens has made a quick decision and will name Mario Cristobal Oregon Football Head Coach.
On Tuesday, Willie Taggart left the Oregon Football program for Florida State. Since then, an outpouring of support has been shown on Social Media for Mario Cristobal to take over the program full time. Rob Mullens has reportedly made a decision and is set to name Cristobal the Head Coach for Oregon Football according to NBC Sports Northwest.
Last year, the Coaching Search took time, but by moving quickly with the decision, Oregon hopes to keep key recruits committed and signing with the Ducks within the next two weeks. The early signing period this year is crucial for Oregon after Taggart helped build a Top Class for 2018 and departed for Florida State earlier this week.
Mario Cristobal has Head Coaching Experience and is also considered a top notch recruiter. Now that Oregon has made a decision on their next leader, who will help fill out his staff. I would hope that key contributors will be able to be retained and not lost to other programs.
Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt is the big key to the Oregon Ducks success and 7-5 record this season. Donte Pimpleton has helped keep a healthy staple of Oregon Running Backs on the field all year and the rest of the staff has had a hand in rebuilding this team with fundamentals that led to the turnaround from last year’s 4-8 season.
Cristobal spent this season as Offensive Line Coach, shoring up the Ducks up front and also as Co-Offensive Coordinator.
