Oregon Basketball faces another challenge in Texas Southern, whose 0-8 record can’t be overlooked.

The Oregon Ducks showed better ball movement and controlled the boards in a win over Colorado State. Dana Altman would like to see the Ducks continue to take a step forward against Texas Southern Monday night. It was good to see Troy Brown back in the lineup and his presence was felt to the tune of his first double-double in an Oregon Uniform.

While Texas Southern is still looking for their first win of the season at 0-8, the team has played some highly contested games early in the season. A win over Oregon could jump-start their season. As a team, they are hitting 41 percent from the floor and 35 percent from three-point range. Texas Southern averages 34 rebounds per game. There are some things they do very well.

The Tigers have lost two games by a two-point margin, including their second game of the season against Washington State. Texas Southern has had 9 days to prepare for the Oregon Ducks, losing their last game against Toledo also by two points. Transfer Donte Clark is working on chemistry with his new teammates and is the player to watch vs Oregon.

Clark has played in all 8 games for the Tigers. He is averaging 17 points per game and is among four players in double figures. Demontrae Jefferson is averaging 23 points per game. Jefferson and Clark lead the team in turnovers with a combined 44 turnovers this season.

The Oregon Ducks are working on some positive momentum as Pac-12 season approaches at the end of the month. Head Coach Dana Altman has the Ducks not overlooking the Tigers. Oregon faces a big road test Saturday vs Fresno State.

The challenge for Altman remains the same. The Starting Lineup is still a work in progress. Troy Brown should provide consistency in his second game back in action. I expect Kenny Wooten to get some extended minutes – they are deserved after he showed some athletic plays vs Colorado State.

Autzen Zoo will have Live Updates via Twitter from Matthew Knight Arena during the game. The Oregon Ducks and Texas Southern Tigers tipoff at 7 pm Pacific Time on Pac-12 Network.
