Oregon Football has a new Head Coach, but the routine remained cool and committed to the task at hand as the Ducks prepare for Boise State.
Last Friday, some normalcy returned to the Oregon Football Program. A sense of calm in a simple constant. Something that would remain from this year to next. Mario Cristobal became the 34th Head Coach for the Ducks. He spoke about his parents from Cuba, and he was battle tested taking an FIU Program through very tough times that included a bowl ban, and a tough schedule with no facilities to speak of.
As the page turned onto the Weekend, the Ducks New Head Coach held two practices in Eugene before departing for Las Vegas. Cristobal knows there is a challenge ahead facing the 25th ranked Broncos, “Just tough, physical, athletic. You don’t consistently win that many games a year without being well coached.”
On Saturday and Sunday, the Moshofsky Center was loud as preparations for the Broncos was put to the Practice Field. Running Back Royce Freeman was a full go in workouts. Tony Brooks-James was working with trainers and may be good to go in the Las Vegas Bowl at the end of the week.
Mario Cristobal had one important message going into the bowl game, “The entire focus is about the players in this game. Our guys want to perform well and to perform well the investment has to be done during the course of the week.”
Marcus Arroyo will also remain with Oregon Football into next season. Following the Bowl Game, it will be important to keep key members of this Coaching Staff following the departure of Willie Taggart to Florida State.
