Oregon Basketball: Kenny Wooten Shows Talent In Ducks Win Over Portland State
Oregon Basketball held off Portland State Wednesday Night as Kenny Wooten put on a show in the second half of the 95-84 win.
The first ten minutes went fast. Both teams jumped to a 30-30 tie as shots were landing from both sides. Portland State and Oregon combined for 23 3-pointers and a back and forth battle through the first half. The Duck found efficiency on Offense with 27 assists and key plays down the stretch by Kenny Wooten, Troy Brown, and Payton Pritchard for their most complete game of the season against a solid opponent in Portland State.
Bryce Canda earned his points for the Vikings putting up 31 and causing fits for the Oregon Defense. Deontae North added 23 points but missed his final five shots.
Oregon used patience early and showmanship late hitting 50 percent from the floor with five players scoring in double figures. Troy Brown picked up his third double-double in as many games and led the Ducks with 9 assists. Kenny Wooten came off the bench for Oregon and again put on a show.
Wooten was a perfect 8 for 8 from the floor for 18 points. He added six rebounds helping Oregon to win the battle on the boards 43-35. He also had six of the Ducks nine blocks on the night. Dana Altman watched Oregon finish with 20 fastbreak points and 24 points off the bench vs Portland State.
After a series of home games following the Phil Knight Invitational, Oregon has found a rhythm as Altman continues to solidify a Starting Lineup. Wooten may soon find himself in the conversation.
