Oregon Basketball: Ducks Face Scrappy Central Arkansas
Oregon Basketball will need to play better defense and land their shots of Offense vs Central Arkansas.
The Central Arkansas Bears are 6-6 on the season but have played several teams down to the wire, losing three of those games by six points or less. They took UCLA to Overtime and beat Cal. They now focus their attention on the Oregon Ducks.
Oregon has won four straight games including a road game at Fresno State where a second half 22-1 run propelled the team to the win. Kenny Wooten came off the bench for 18 points and 6 blocks and could be called upon Wednesday night against Central Arkansas. Head Coach Dana Altman said the possibility of Wooten earning his first career start is good.
Paul White left the game against Fresno State with a concussion and is not available for the game Wednesday vs Central Arkansas. Oregon will have to lean on Wooten and MiKyle McIntosh on the Defensive end. Keith Smith and Roman Sorkin could also play key roles.
Rebounding has been a key to the Oregon Ducks success in the non-conference slate. When Oregon wins the rebounding battle they are undefeated(9-0). Kenny Wooten has taken over from Jordan Bell last season helping Oregon rank top in the Pac-12 with just over 3 blocks per game.
Central Arkansas is 2-6 on the road this season, but don’t let that fool you, they beat California 96-69. The Bears average 82 points per game. Jordan Howard leads with 24 points per game. Rebounding is a team effort for Central Arkansas. Mathieu Kamba and Hayden Koval are the team leaders on the boards.
The Stat of the Year so far – Jordan Bell had 38 blocks in his first 12 games as a Duck. Kenny Wooten has the same number through 12 games in his first season. Expect Wooten to get his first start of the season vs Central Arkansas.
