Former Oregon Football Tight End Pharaoh Brown received an early Christmas gift and was promoted to the active roster for the Oakland Raiders last Saturday.

While he did not see the field much in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas night, the fact that Brown found himself on an NFL Field is somewhat a miracle in itself. He has been a hard worker during his time in the National Football League. He possesses the ability and size to be successful in the NFL.

A leg injury against Utah nearly ended not only his college career at Oregon, but put a curveball in his plans in the NFL. He faced adversity and worked to get past it.

Pharaoh Brown has spent the season on the Oakland Raiders Practice Squad. An injury allowed him to move up to the 53-man roster on Saturday, two days before the Raiders met Philadelphia.

Even though he did not reflect in the final standings in the loss to Philadelphia, he will have one more opportunity to get on the field this week against the Los Angeles Chargers. With Oakland eliminated from the Playoffs this season, I expect that the former Oregon Tight End could see playing time, at least on Special Teams against LA this week.

His natural position is at Tight End. Jared Cook and Lee Smith are ahead of Brown on the roster. Brown could be the feel good story of the year after a season of issues from National Anthem fiascos to bad calls by referees.
