Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball vs Washington State Cheat Sheet
The Oregon Ducks(11-2) play host to the Washington State Cougars(7-5) at Matthew Knight Arena to open Pac-12 play.
Washington State has some momentum entering the game winning the last two contests in Eugene. The Ducks will look to change that on Friday. Sabrina Ionescu has won Pac-12 Player of the Week honors four times this season and could provide Offensive fireworks against the Cougars after having more than a week off for Christmas break.
Oregon is the fourth-best scoring team in the nation putting up 88 points per game. Washington State could be the best rebounding team that the Ducks have faced so far, ranked 12th in the NCAA in Offensive rebounds. Washington State was the walking wounded last season but has several key players returning.
The Washington State player to watch is Borislava Hristova. She is putting up 17 points per game and has led the team in scoring in 10 of 12 games this season. She also has four games this season of 20 or more points. Oregon will need to contain Hristova. Louise Brown is the leading rebounder for Washington State with 91 rebounds. They have 488 rebounds as a team. The Ducks will have to get a handle on the ball early.
WSU has scored 828 points this season, Opponents have put up 829. Despite a 7-5 record, Washington State has won two straight games and could cause headaches for the Ducks if Oregon struggles with turnovers early.
