Marcus Mariota Can Shift The Season Narrative With Win vs Jacksonville Jaguars
The storyline between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee continues and momentum is not on the side of the Titans.
Quarterback Marcus Mariota remembers last season well. He was injured in the game and the Titans lost their chance at the Playoffs without him. This season has not gone well for Tennessee and the former Oregon Quarterback. Mariota has played injured and has thrown 12 interceptions on the season. Tennessee is 8-7 and are having a hard time finishing off opponents of late.
Tennessee has lost their last three games, including a game against the hapless San Francisco 49ers on a game-ending field goal. Last weekend. Jared Goff and Todd Gurley carved up the Titans Defense and pulled out a four-point win to claim the NFC West. Despite the losses, Tennessee is still in the Playoff Hunt, but they have to win on Sunday against Jacksonville.
Playoff scenarios are sometimes funny. If Tennessee can pull off the victory. They will likely travel to Jacksonville in the first round next week as a lower seed. The Jaguars have already clinched a home playoff game at 10-5. Running Back Leonard Fournette is 31 yards from having a 1000 yard season, but there is more on the line for the Titans.
Marcus Mariota will be without a big piece of the backfield. Running Back DeMarco Murray who left the game vs the Rams. Derrick Henry has played in big games before and will be leaned on for the Titans Ground Game. Mariota has shown he is capable of getting the job done. He threw for 275 yards against Los Angeles and can shift the narrative of the season with a win and Playoff Berth on Sunday.
