Oregon Ducks vs Oregon State Cheat Sheet
The Oregon State Beavers(11-8, 3-4 Pac-12) visit the Oregon Ducks(13-7, 3-4 Pac-12) for the In-State Rivalry known as the Civil War.
Oregon and Oregon State are ranked toward the bottom of the Pac-12 Conference Standings entering their game on Saturday at Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks lost their first meeting with Oregon State earlier this month in Corvallis and are looking to even the season series between the two in-state rivals.
According to the latest numbers from Ken Pomeroy, the Oregon Ducks ranks 75th. The Oregon State Beavers come into the game 105th. What makes things even worse for Oregon, next weeks’ opponent on the road, Stanford enters the second half of the weekend ranked 93rd. A tough place to be for three teams looking to be playing in the NCAA Tournament in March.
The Oregon Ducks need to play well and beat Oregon State Saturday night. While the win won’t be anywhere near what is needed to find the Top 25 Rankings, it is still an important contest for two teams looking to find consistency entering February and the stretch run that could well determine if one of them is March Madness worthy.
For the season, experience has been the key to victory in the Pac-12 and Payton Pritchard has led the way for the Ducks. He hit key free throws to seal the win over UCLA last weekend. Oregon beat the Bruins 94-91. A run of wins for the Oregon Ducks is not out of the question, but a loss to Oregon State could make it more difficult to start next weekend on the road. A complete game for the Ducks and Dana Altman on Saturday will tell a lot about this team heading into February.
